In trying to reacquire OG colorways of the Air Jordan 6, I decided to try and get my hands back on a pair of Air Jordan 6 Sport Blue.
This version is the 2014 retro of the original colorway that is it’s namesake. This retro still features the Jumpman on the back instead of Nike Air.
Although I’m not the biggest fan of trying to make outfits with blue kicks, there’s enough white and black on this shoe to make it blend a bit easier with other clothes. For example, khaki, black or grey denim all works well with these, paired with a black, grey or white top for a simple but clean look. Dark blue denim can also work as well although I’d avoid lighter washes with these.
How Are The Materials?
The materials aren’t that great on these. The shoe released right before the “remastered” phase of Jordan releases, so the leather was pretty much shiny and plasticky. When I had them new I found them stiff and not impressive. However, the preowned pair I recently acquired is broken in a bit and the leather is no longer quite as glossy or stiff. In a way, these look to be a lot better after being worn a bit. Still, these don’t score high marks in overall quality.
How Do They Fit?
These Air Jordan 6 Sport Blue fit big. I could probably size down a half size in these as compared to what I would wear in a Jordan 3 or 5, but I rather enjoy the extra room at my true size. 6s seem to have a more generous toebox. As far as underfoot cushioning, there’s nothing special here; you get a typical Jordan retro feel from the insole and Air unit.
This pickup was more to tick a box than it was a must have. Still, I enjoy how this shoe ages and am glad to have it back in the collection, at least until Jordan Brand releases a version with Nike Air on the back!
